Penn State Vs. Purdue TV Schedule, Spread, Game Time And More

Joe Paterno And The 5-1 Penn State Nittany Lions Host Big Ten Leaders Division Rival Purdue On Saturday

The 5-1 Penn St. Nittany Lions host the Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday, the first meeting between the two schools in the new Big Ten Leaders Division.

After losing to the Alabama Crimson Tide on September 10, Penn State has won for straight, including two wins over the Indiana Hoosiers and Iowa Hawkeyes, two Big Ten rivals. The Nittany Lions possess one of the nation's most stifling defenses, limiting opponents to 10 points or less in their five wins and ranking in the Top 5 in total defense (250.8 yards per game), pass defense (157.7 yards per game), and scoring (10.5 points per game).

Outside linebacker Gerald Hodges leads the Nittany Lions with 36 tackles, while defensive tackles Jordan Hill and Devon Still have combined for 55 stops, including 14 for a loss and 3.5 quarterback sacks. Quarterback Matt McGloin leads an offense that averages 162 yards per game on the ground. Sophomore running back Silas Redd leads the way with 574 yards and four touchdowns rushing. Redd is coming off back-to-back 100-yard games, including a career-high 142 last week against Iowa.

The Boilermakers enter Saturday's game with a 3-2 overall record, and are 1-0 in the Big Ten after last week's 45-17 win over the Minnesota Golden Gophers.Offensively, junior running backs Ralph Bolden and Akeem Shavers lead a rushing attack that is averaging 215.4 rushing yards per game. Sophomore cornerback Ricardo Allen picked up his second interception of the season last week, returning it 37 yards for a touchdown. Allen already has three pick-sixes in his 17-game career.
