No one expected the scoreboard operator to be overworked when Purdue went to Happy Valley to take on the Nittany Lions -- and so far, no one has really been surprised. Through the first half, we’ve had one touchdown and three field goals -- the touchdown and one of the field goals belonging to Penn State and the other two kicks coming from Purdue -- and the home team has a four-point lead heading to the locker room.

But for a game without many points, the teams have combined for a good bit of offense so far. There have been 379 yards, 224 for Purdue and 155 by Penn State. And most of those yards have come on the ground, with the two-quarterback combos for both teams falling short of the 50 percent mark at halftime.
Silas Redd for Penn State and Ralph Bolden for Purdue each have 58 yards rushing. Curtis Dukes has the game's only touchdown. Fans are hoping it's just the game's only touchdown so far.
