If the reason for going to Connor Shaw -- before Stephen Garcia was dismissed -- was to cut back on the interceptions for South Carolina, the results are not what South Carolina was expecting. Shaw has already thrown two interceptions, both times when the Gamecocks were threatening to score, and the Bulldogs and Gamecocks are tied shortly after halftime.

Marcus Lattimore gave South Carolina the touchdown it needed to knot things up, carrying the ball four yards in the second quarter to cap off a 13-play, 80-yard drive by South Carolina. Aside from the picks, Shaw is playing okay. He's 12-of-19 for 82 yards, but then that's setting aside two back-breaking interceptions, so the caveat kind of looms over those numbers.
Since scoring late in the first quarter, Mississippi State’s offense has also sputtered. But at least State hasn’t left quite as many points on the field.
