In some ways, the LSU-Tennessee game has been relatively even. Both teams have seven first downs, Tennessee has a modest advantage in total offense (175-161) and LSU’s edge in time of possession is only three minutes. But they only count points in college football, and the Tigers have a 17-7 lead as the teams go to the locker room.

Some of LSU’s yardage doesn’t show up in the total offense category -- most notably an 89-yard interception return that set up the Tigers’ first touchdown. And Tennessee quarterback Matt Simms hasn’t helped things by tossing that interception and another to help LSU hang onto the lead.
Jarrett Lee has continued his reclamation story for LSU, going an efficient 9-of-13 for 98 yards and two touchdowns. Spencer Ware's 31 yards on 10 carries lead LSU, and Ware also has a catch for a touchdown. Tauren Poole has 53 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries for the Vols.
