BCS Rankings Projections 2011: Alabama, Oklahoma, LSU In The Running

The BCS is a corrupt farce, but the first set of BCS standings will be unveiled at 8:15 pm ET on ESPN anyway. Will Oklahoma, LSU or Alabama get the inside track?

Update: Complete BCS top 25 available now, right here.

All signs point to the BCS rankings' 2011 debut looking much like the AP Top 25 and other human polls, at least as far as the top is concerned. It appears the computers are higher on the Oklahoma Sooners than are most of the humans, likely slotting them ahead of the LSU Tigers. The machines like the Big 12 this year, so the story goes.

What to expect during the BCS Countdown Show (ESPN, 8:15 pm ET)? ESPN’s own projection puts Oklahoma No. 1, followed by Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma State, Boise State and Wisconsin -- and, no, ESPN doesn’t already have an advance look at this stuff. And here was the top 10 from last week’s projections by BCS guru BCS Guru:

  1. Alabama
  2. Oklahoma
  3. LSU
  4. Oklahoma State
  5. Boise State
  6. Wisconsin
  7. Clemson
  8. Stanford
  9. Michigan
  10. Arkansas

The only major adjustments that need to be made here: the Michigan Wolverines lost decisively to the Michigan St. Spartans, surely dropping them from single digits. The Oregon Ducks could take their spot. There may be minor adjustments, but that should be a decent picture of what we'll be working with.

Check back Sunday around noon for Coaches Poll and AP rankings, and then Sunday night and Monday morning for BCS standings analysis.
