Arkansas Vs. Ole Miss Game Time, TV Schedule, Spread And Notes

The No. 9 Arkansas Razorbacks head to Oxford to take on the Ole Miss Rebels. They will face former head coach coach Houston Nutt, who is fighting for his job after a 2-4 start to the season.

The Arkansas Razorbacks have gone on a tear since losing to the Alabama Crimson Tide in September, since beating then-No. 14 Texas A&M and then-No. 15 Auburn, propelling themselves into the Top 10 of this week's initial BCS rankings. Ole Miss is hoping for a similar resurgence after a blowout loss to the Crimson Tide last week, though at 0-3 in conference play, the Rebels appear headed for another year in the basement of the SEC.

Despite gaining just 226 total yards of offense in the loss, the Razorbacks still lead the SEC averaging 466 yards per game. Quarterback Tyler Wilson has been solid in place of the departed Ryan Mallett, completing 65 percent of his passes for 1,779 yards and 12 touchdowns to just three interceptions on the year. He will face a banged up Ole Miss defense that just lost defensive end Wayne Dorsey and cornerback Marcus Temple for the season in the loss to Alabama.

Beyond a shaky defense, however, the Rebels have to deal with constant rumors that head coach Houston Nutt, the former leader of the Razorbacks, may not be Ole Miss’ head coach much longer.

Finally, though - and this can’t be stressed enough - Houston Nutt is not a bad person. Of course he is stubborn and of course he has an ego that he has a tough time overcoming, but the same can be said for a lot of football coaches. Such flaws come with the territory. He isn’t the monster you all want him to be. He’s just a flawed coach who has let the college football game pass him by.

Still, Nutt is 2-1 in three meetings with his former team while coaching Ole Miss, so there is hope. Just not much. Arkansas Expats summed up the meeting beautifully in poetry.

But famed for the upset, Sir Nutt doth be,
A defeat of the Hogs tomorrow - is that what we’ll see?
Fear not, my friends: with the Hogs, the Rebels can’t cope,
on this day at least, they won’t hang on to the rope!

Location: Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, Oxford, MS
