At halftime of their game against Boston College, it looked like the infamously fickle role of ACC contender might slip away from Virginia Tech. The woeful Eagles held a 7-6 lead against Virginia Tech, and anyone who has watched ACC football ever could not rule out a loss.
Boston College Vs. Virginia Tech Final: After Trailing At Half, Hokies Roll Past Eagles
That uncertainty died by early in the fourth quarter, when the Hokies scored a third straight touchdown to put the game out of reach. Overall, Logan Thomas was 22-of-36 for 268 yards and a touchdown passing, adding another 60 yards and a touchdown on the ground. David Wilson ran the ball 17 times for the Hokies for 134 yards and a touchdown. That and three Cody Journell field goals were enough to propel Virginia Tech to a 30-14 win.
Despite having led at halftime, there weren't really many reasons to think that BC has turned their problems around. Chase Rettig was 13-of-30 for 181 yards, a touchdown and an interception; the running game managed just 91 yards. Boston College will need a miracle to keep from soon collecting the seventh loss that will officially knock them out of bowl contention.
