Boise State Vs. Air Force 2011: Kellen Moore Delivers Record-Tying Victory After Falcons Scare Broncos

The Air Force Falcons didn't really have a chance in its game against the Boise St. Broncos--that is, if you believed the odds makers. The Falcons were 30-point road underdogs to the Broncos and fell by just 11 points. While the Falcons lost, 37-26, they managed to keep the Broncos on alert for the entire game.

But as long as Kellen Moore is quarterbacking the Broncos, it's hard for Boise State to lose a game. In fact, Moore is now tied with Texas Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy for the most victories in NCAA FBS history with 45. What separates the two is that McCoy was just 45-8 in his career. Moore is 45-2 and has five more games plus a bowl to play in. He will be able to pad that wins record and make it nearly impossible to break. McCoy and the Broncos will take next week off before facing the UNLV Rebels.

While the Broncos became bowl eligible last week and are on the path to a BCS game, the Falcons will need to win out for a sure chance at making a bowl game. The path isn’t a hard one, but there could be some surprises. Games against New Mexico, UNLV and Colorado State look eminently winnable. Army and Wyoming are the two toughest tests and they come on back-to-back weeks.

The Falcons certainly have the offensive weapons to make it happen, though. The run-option attack led by Tim Jefferson scared the Broncos on Saturday afternoon. The ground game tallied 264 yards and three touchdowns. The Falcons should be able to soar above most of its competition for the rest of the season.
