Advanced stats things are always NEAT to look at, but USA Today’s Sagarin ratings come equipped with an especially advanced time suck: FBS and FCS teams are lumped in one big lumpy pile. So Georgia Southern, the No. 1 FCS team, ranks better than dozens of FBS teams. Putting them ahead of Iowa is a little much, but I’m pretty sure the Eagles could handle Memphis just fine.
Fun With Sagarin Ratings: Northwestern, Boston College Fans Consider Relegation
Thus, Northwestern fans dug into the numbers to see where the Wildcats would rank if they played in a FCS conference. Cats fans didn’t find the returns to be completely unenjoyable, at least:
Colonial: 4th behind Maine, Towson and James Madison. Good thing we didn’t play Towson this year. On the bright side, we are one spot ahead of former nemesis New Hampshire.
Boston College fans decided to take the plunge as well, but had to make do with smaller victories:
Southern: Eighth, ranked behind every SoCon team with the exception of Elon and Western Carolina. Yeah.
Boston College sports besides hockey! Catch the wave!
