Between their 0-5 SEC record and their wide-reaching plethora of injuries, one might come to the conclusion that things can't get much worse for the Tennessee Volunteers. This season, people who let that thought enter their mind are almost always wrong, as things continue to get worse for the Vols. This time, things have gotten worse by way of another season ending injury. Strong safety Brent Brewer has been lost for the rest of the year with torn knee ligaments. The combination of the timing and severity of the injury mean he is unlikely to be available for spring football.
Brent Brewer Injury: Another Vols Starter Lost For The Year
The Tennessee Volunteers have lost another starter, with strong safety Brent Brewer going down for the year
Brewer's injury will cause a shuffle in the secondary. Brian Randolph will move from free safety to strong safety, Prentiss Waggner will move from cornerback to free safety, and Derek Dooley will have to start someone at corner that he's benched previously for poor performances, either Marsalis Teague or Justin Coleman.
On the secondary shuffle, Dooley said “We don’t really have much options [sic].”
As much as that grammatical error deserves teasing, Dooley’s had too much bad luck this year for anyone to make fun of him. The Vols really don’t have many good options at most positions at the moment. Poor Vols.
