College Football Coaching Salary Database Reveals Fun Tidbits
You can find the database over at USA Today. Hit the jump for some fun notes.
- As just about everyone has pointed out on Twitter, Kansas head coach Turner Gill makes more than Mike Gundy ($1,200 more, to be exact). Also interesting: Gill’s “other pay” is $1,200. We can only hope he has a “makes more than Mike Gundy” clause in his contract.
- Washington State head coach Paul Wulff is earning $50 in “other pay.” Where did this $50 come from? Why is it only $50?
- Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo makes $1,538,190, which is a nice chunk of change. Also of note, Niumatalolo, like Gill, makes more money than Boise State head coach Chris Petersen.
- The highest paid coach in the Big East is ... Greg Schiano, though Pittsburgh head coach Todd Graham’s salary is not available.
- Brian Kelly is listed as a Big East coach in the database...
- Mack Brown makes a whole lot of money.
More on the head coaching salaries can be found in the accompanying USA Today article, which examines the recent rise in compensation.
