We all look forward to Hate Week. Nothing says Thanksgiving like sharing a slice of hate with annual relatives, and this year’s feast could be as angst-ridden as any other’s. Because there’s agreed-upon, regularly scheduled, border-acknowledging hate, and then there’s door-slamming, you-don’t-own-me, in-the-box-to-the-left hate.
College Football TV Schedule, Week 13: Happy Hate Week, America
It’s Hate Week, glorious Hate Week, and the fully stocked college football schedule for Week 13 promises both regional bloodletting and big-time bowl implications.
That’s how much Texas A&M hates No. 25 Texas. Thanksgiving Day’s Long Star Showdown is expected to be the last meeting for a long time between the 118-year rivals. Conference realignment will prove just as mighty as World War I, as that’s what it took to separate them in the series’ only stoppage so far.
Kansas and Missouri, warring since 1891, are also separating for the time being, though realignment is the cause of their divide and not the result. Still! All that hate, just left to fester.
Elsewhere, hatred can alter the national championship, as No. 1 LSU welcomes No. 3 Arkansas, along with various other postseason activity. Ohio State can foul up No. 15 Michigan’s return to glory, No. 2 Alabama needs vengeance against No. 24 Auburn to stay in line for another title run, No. 5 Virginia Tech plays Virginia for the ACC Coastal crown, and No. 22 Notre Dame can spoil No. 6 Stanford’s remote New Orleans chances.
It’s a difficult week to sum up, since almost every game means something to somebody. Believe it or not, 6-5 Washington vs. 4-7 Washington State will be a very, very hot game in one corner of the world, as will 2-9 Ole Miss vs. 6-5 Mississippi State.
