ACC Championship 2011, Virginia Tech Vs. Clemson: Hokies Look For Revenge

The 2011 ACC Championship game features the Virginia Tech Hokies against the Clemson Tigers. This is a rematch of an October contest that the Tigers won. But Clemson enters this contest with losses in its last two games.

The Clemson Tigers had wrapped up the Atlantic division in the ACC several weeks ago, but it took until the final week of the conference's regular season to determine the championship game opponent. It all came down to the Virginia Tech Hokies vs. the Virginia Cavaliers. The Hokies easily took care of the Cavaliers in the 38-0 victory, setting up a prime time matchup on Saturday.

However, the Tigers certainly aren't heading into the game in the shape they would have liked. Clemson has lost three of its last four games and back-to-back games in the last two weeks to the N.C. State Wolfpack and the South Carolina Gamecocks. Quarterback Tajh Boyd struggled against South Carolina, completing 11-of-29 passes for 83 yards.

This game will be a rematch of the Oct. 1 contest that Clemson won, 23-3. The Tigers improved to 5-0 after that game while handing Virginia Tech its first (and only) loss of the season. Has the tide turned in favor of the Hokies for this game with Clemson’s recent slide?
