More Florida Transfers: Joshua Shaw, Lynden Trail Next To Leave Gators

Two more Florida players are leaving from Urban Meyer’s last Gators class. You’ll note Meyer was named the head coach elsewhere one day prior.

The Florida Gators' 28-player 2010 class, Urban Meyer's last in Gainesville, is now down to a few more than a dozen players. Defensive end Lynden Trail and safety Joshua Shaw are the next out, both transferring elsewhere. Both were four-star recruits, according to Rivals.

Trail redshirted this year, but Shaw played, putting up 22 tackles. He missed one game for what were termed family reasons at the time. Don’t be surprised if he winds up back in California, from whence he traveled across the country to play for Meyer.

Or, obviously, Ohio. During Meyer’s non-retirement retirement, Shaw fretted about whether the coach would remain in Gainesville:

“We have a father-son relationship basically,” Shaw said. “I talked to him before he had his press conference, and he was letting me know basically it was still safe for me to attend Florida.”

During his recruitment, Trail said he knew he would choose Florida as soon as he heard Meyer’s voice:

“Coach Urban Meyer is the head coach from the number one team in the nation, and he actually picks up the phone when you call him,” Trail said. “You can talk to him about anything. That’s the relationship that means a lot to me.”

You are free to speculate as you see fit.
