Texas Tech Vs. Texas Score: Longhorns Up 17-6 After Raiders Failed To Capitalize Twice

Texas Tech ran more than 15 plays and seven minutes off the clock on their opening drive, but could only muster a field goal after stalling out on the Texas nine yard line. The Longhorns responded with 10 straight points to take the lead in the second quarter.

That the Red Raiders couldn't get seven points despite the long drive could prove huge later in the game. The Longhorns knotted up the score with a field goal of their own on their next possession. After holding the Raiders to a punt, Texas went 80 yards for a touchdown on its next drive, highlighted by 47-yard run by David Ash to get the Longhorns down to the Tech 27 yard line. Foswhitt Whittaker capped the drive with a 12-yard touchdown run.

Tech found its way into the red zone one more time, but had to once again settle for a field goal after failing to convert on a 3rd-and-19. The Longhorns wasted no time capitalizing, adding another touchdown on a four-play, 72-yard drive capped by another Whittaker run. Texas is now up 17-6.
