Louisville Vs. West Virginia Final Score: Cardinals Upset ‘Eers, 38-35

The West Virginia Mountaineers outgained the Louisville Cardinals 533 yards to 359 on Saturday, but couldn't find the end zone often enough despite a great outing by quarterback Geno Smith.

Smith accounted for 410 yards through the air, going 31-for-44 passing for three touchdowns and no interceptions. A lost fumble early in the fourth quarter in Louisville territory may have turned the game for Cardinals, however. The Mountaineers were driving to get the score back within striking distance, but the turnover would stall any momentum the team had regained.

West Virginia would score a touchdown with 9:01 left on the clock, giving fans in Morgantown hope for a comeback. The Cardinals had other ideas, however, running over seven minutes off the clock on a 13-play touchdown drive, leaving the Mountaineers just 1:50 to make up a 10-point deficit. West Virginia would score on a one-yard touchdown pass to Stedman Bailey, but couldn't recover the ensuing onside kick, sealing the game for Louisville, 38-35.
