Chris Owusu Injury: Stanford WR Leaves In Ambulance After Hit

Stanford Cardinal wide receiver Chris Owusu was taken from the field in Corvallis by ambulance after suffering a scary hit against the Oregon St. Beavers. He took a shot to the helmet from Jordan Poyer, then went down hard and stayed down.

Poyer was flagged for targeting a defenseless receiver, negating what would have been a scoring fumble return.

Not to speculate, but there’s a good chance it’s a concussion. That would be his second of the year and the fourth of his career, and it’s a wonder he didn’t endure another one last week. At some point they’re going to have to shut him down, since there’s clearly something about the way he plays that increases the likelihood of him taking this kind of hit. He’s been the victim of bad hits, to be sure, but Stanford can’t risk him going down yet again during the rest of the season.

Owusu entered the week second among Stanford wide receivers, with 370 yards.
