Mike Leach Interested In Ole Miss Job, Of Course

Former Texas Tech Red Raiders coach Mike Leach, who was fired from Texas Tech by Craig James for no good reason, doesn't sound like he'd turn down a chance to interview for the newly available Mississippi Rebels job. He was quoted on the matter by a Commercial Appeal story:

“I haven’t heard from anybody, but I’m not too hard to find,” Leach said. “It’s a great job. I’m sure the (Ole Miss) administration has a certain individual it is looking for, and I’m sure they’ll find the right guy.”

Leach is at least interested in just about every job, and has mentioned everything from North Carolina to UCLA as potential ports. Ole Miss, despite its large network of of forward-thinking sports fans, is very much an ole-boy school, as far as the power figures go. Leach will almost certainly find a better fit elsewhere, which isn’t really a criticism of either Leach or Ole Miss.
