Dayne Crist Visiting Wisconsin, Delaware After Kansas

Former Notre Dame quarterback Dayne Crist has visits lined up with Delaware and Wisconsin after meeting with Kansas and former coach Charlie Weis over the weekend.

As he prepares to transfer from Notre Dame, quarterback Dayne Crist is currently visiting Delaware and will visit the Wisconsin Badgers later in the week, Brian Hamilton of the Chicago Tribune reports.

The redshirt junior visited the Kansas Jayhawks last week as they introduced new head coach Charlie Weis, who recruited Crist to South Bend.

After redshirting as a freshman, Crist appeared in four games in the 2009 season, completing 10-of-20 pass attempts for 130 yards and a touchdown and adding 16 rushing yards. Crist opened the 2010 season as the starter, completing 174-of-294 pass attempts for 2,033 yards with 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions, but injured his knee in an October 30 game against the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes. Crist opened the 2011 season as the starter, but was benched at halftime of the season-opener and lost his starting job to sophomore Tommy Rees.

The 22-year-old Crist is graduating from Notre Dame, which means he will not have to sit out a season when he transfers to another program. Crist's connections to Weis, and familiarity with his offense, explains the Jayhawks' interest, while Wisconsin will lose post-graduate transfer quarterback Russell Wilson after the Rose Bowl. Delaware starting quarterback Trevor Sasek is coming off major knee surgery and may not be ready for the start of the 2012 season.
