D3 National Championship 2011, UW-Whitewater Vs. Mount Union TV Time, Schedule And More

For the seventh year in a row, Mount Union will face off against UW-Whitewater for the D3 National Title.

It will be a battle of 14-0 powerhouses when No. 1 UW-Whitewater faces No. 2 University of Mount Union (Ohio) in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl XXXIX.

It is the seventh year in a row these two teams will meet for the title. Mount Union has won the national title three of those times (2005, 2006 and 2008) while Whitewater won in 2007, 2009 and 2010.

Mount Union leads the point differential in those six games by a scant margin of 171-170.

“It is kind of a unique situation that hasn’t happened before where teams keep coming back to go at it again,” Mount Union head coach Larry Kehres said. “I think being a fan of one of these two teams, you appreciate that your team is back regardless of what side you’re cheering for and you respect it.”

Mount Union coach Larry Kehres has won an NCAA-record 10 of the last 16 national titles, and the program is playing in the Stagg Bowl for the 15th time in 2011. Whitewater coach Lance Leipold has been in charge since 2007 and has three titles to show for it, looking for four. The team is 71-3 in Leipold’s five seasons as coach.

Game Time: Friday, December 16th, 7:00 p.m.

Location: Salem Stadium, Salem, Virginia

Television: ESPNU/ESPN3
