2011 New Mexico Bowl, Temple Vs. Wyoming: First-Half Pass Seals Victory

The Temple Owls were leading the Wyoming Cowboys 21-0 with less than a minute remaining in the New Mexico Bowl Saturday before Brett Smith found Josh Doctson for a 21-yard touchdown catch. Thirty-seven seconds remained in the first half and it looked like the Cowboys were building momentum. That momentum lasted all of 18 seconds.

On the ensuing drive, Joe Jones returned the kickoff to the Owls' 39-yard line. That's all that Chris Coyer needed as he hit Rod Streater with a 61-yard touchdown pass that restored Temple's 21-point led with 19 seconds left before halftime.

Temple’s defense held Wyoming from there, allowing a meaningless touchdown with three seconds left and the game already out of reach in a 37-15 victory. It was the Owls’ first bowl win in 32 years.
