Mark Stoops Sticking With FSU Instead Of Leaving For Auburn, According To Report

Florida St. Seminoles defensive coordinator Mark Stoops will remain in Tallahassee instead of taking over for Auburn Tigers defensive coordinator Ted Roof, according to a Tallahassee Democrat report from early in the weekend. According to the report, Stoops isn't planning to leave for Auburn or elsewhere.

Stoops had been the apparent top candidate for about a week. FSU fans were concerned Auburn could offer him a pile of money too big to turn down, which the Noles wouldn’t have been able to match.

Head coach Gene Chizik remains the Plainsmen defensive coordinator for the time being, as the Tigers prepare to travel to Atlanta for the Chick-fil-A Bowl against the Virginia Cavaliers. A former defensive coordinator, he's also been the position coach of every individual defensive unit at one point or another.
