Cornerback Kevin Petersen Commits To Oklahoma Sooners

Kevin Petersen, one of the better cornerbacks in Oklahoma, has committed to the Oklahoma Sooners, according to SB Nation’s Crimson and Cream Machine:

Peterson played both running back and cornerback in high school, but there is no confusion about his future in Norman. He’ll play defense and projects as a solid lock down corner. With his time at running back, you know he won’t shy away from contact when coming up in run support. He also has excellent speed (reportedly in the mid to high 4.4 range) so he’ll have that recovery speed in pass coverage. Has shown good hips, which are huge for a CB, and the ability to find the ball in the air, but will benefit greatly from the opportunity to focus on one position at the D-I level. Peterson turned down offers from Arizona, Iowa State, Oregon State, and Tulsa to become a Sooner.

Petersen has good size at 5’11” and also held offers from Arizona and Oregon State. You would expect the Sooners to know Oklahoma better than anyone, OU taking Petersen may signal that other programs missed the boat in offering the cornerback.
