Purdue’s Dwayne Beckford, O.J. Ross Likely Out For Little Caesars Bowl

Top Purdue defender Dwayne Beckford may miss the 2011 Little Caesars Bowl, while wide receiver O.J. Ross is already out.

Leading Purdue Boilermakers tackler Dwayne Beckford could miss the team's pizza party with Eastern Michigan after being arrested over the weekend on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Head coach Danny Hope said he wants to meet with Beckford and family before deciding whether the junior linebacker will suit up.

Hope also said sophomore wide receiver O.J. Ross will miss the game due to a suspension that will linger beyond the regular season.

The good news for Purdue fans: Hope says he doesn’t expect any players to miss the game for academic reasons. Purdue fans, however, appear to have shifted primarily to basketball mode. Can’t blame them!

Beckford contributed 90 tackles, three sacks, seven tackles for loss and an interception this year, while Ross added 33 catches for 356 yards, third-highest on the team. Expect Gary Bush and Waynelle Gravesande to benefit the most from Ross' absence.
