MAC Championship 2011 Final Score: Ohio Blows 20 Point Lead As Northern Illinois Wins On Last Second Field Goal

The Ohio Bobcats looked like they were going to roll right along to a MAC championship, taking a 20-0 lead into halftime. The Bobcats were able to shut down the typically high powered Northern Illinois offense. In the second half however, the Wolfpack came alive. Quarterback Chandler Harnish was able to connect with Nathan Palmer 39-yards for a touchdown to begin the come back. After NIU's touchdown drive, Ohio quarterback Tyler Tettleton was picked off by Jimmie Ward.

The Huskies went to work after the turnover, and in just four plays went right down the field and scored another touchdown. Chadler Harnish once again connected in the air, this time to Martel Moore for 32-yards and a touchdown. NIU missed the extra point, but were still within a touchdown of tying the game. The Huskies defense once again forced the Bobcats to punt, giving the ball back to Harnish and the Huskies offense.

Once again, this time in six plays, Harnish marched the Huskies right down the football field to tie the game. Harnish once again connected on a long touchdown pass, hitting Nathan Palmer again for a 22-yard touchdown pass to tie the game 20-20. The NIU defense forced Ohio to go backwards on the ensuing possession and punt after just three plays. As they had done the entire second half, the Huskies went right down the football field, this time getting in field goal range. After the Bobcats tried to ice the kicker, Mathew Sims drilled the 33-yard game winning field goal, completing the 20 point come back victory.
