Gator Bowl 2012: Florida Interim OC Auditioning For Permanent Gig

Though some notable bloggers would love to see Josh McDaniels fired in St. Louis and hired as the Florida Gators' next offensive coordinator after Charlie Weis left to eat take Kansas' head coaching spot, interim coordinator Brian White fancies himself some permanency at the position, and will try to use the Gator Bowl against the Ohio St. as an audition, according to the Gainesville Sun:

On what figures to be a long list of candidates for the vacant offensive coordinator’s position at Florida, Brian White has some distinct advantages over the rest of the field.

He’s on the current staff. He knows head coach Will Muschamp, the players and the offense. And he’s been given 15 bowl practices and the Gator Bowl game to basically audition for the job as the Gators’ interim offensive coordinator.

While White was evasive about campaigning for the job, giving answers like “every day’s a job interview,” and “I’m just happy to be here,” Muschamp acknowledged that White is a “serious candidate” for the job, so he must step up in practice and during the bowl game to give himself a bigger advantage.
