Four Penn State Players To Miss TicketCity Bowl, Including Curtis Drake

Penn State will be without four players, including wide receiver Curtis Drake when they take on the Houston Cougars in the 2011 TicketCity Bowl.

The Penn St. Nittany Lions will be without quarterback Paul Jones, defensive back Derrick Thomas, wide receiver Curtis Drake and wide receiver Shawney Kersey when they take on the Houston Cougars in the 2011 TicketCity Bowl,
PSU coach Tom Bradley and Penn State SID Jeff Nelson announced.

Jones and Thomas did not travel with the team to Dallas due to “academic reasons.”

Meanwhile, Drake and Kersey did not make the trip due to “personal reasons.”

Drake was the player involved in a locker room fracas with quarterback Matt McGloin, who was knocked unconscious in the fight. McGloin reportedly went into a seizure as well.

McGloin publicly took responsibility for the fight, but is remains with the team while Drake will miss the game. Bradley had said Monday that McGloin and Drake “will face internal discipline.”
