The TicketCity Bowl against the Houston Cougars continues to look bleaker and bleaker for the Penn St. Nittany Lions. A day after it was announced four players won't make the trip, interim coach Tom Bradley downgraded the chances of starting quarterback Matt McGloin making the game. McGloin suffered a concussion in a post-practice fight with wide receiver Curtis Drake two weeks ago.
TicketCity Bowl 2012: Penn State’s Rob Bolden Likely To Start
Bolden took all of the snaps with the first-team offense today, while walk-on Shane McGregor served as the backup.
"The longer you go, the odds of [Matt] playing aren't very good," interim coach Tom Bradley said.
Sophomore Rob Bolden was clearly the inferior passer on the year, throwing four interceptions in 109 attempts and completing only 42 percent of his throws. The two started the year in a rotation of sorts, with Joe Paterno refusing to declare an official starter, but Bolden's role diminished to the point where he hasn't attempted more than 10 passes in a game since Oct. 1.
