Oklahoma State’s prolific offense wasted little time in making its presence known in Saturday night’s Bedlam game. After the Sooners and Cowboys traded punts in the first quarter, Oklahoma State put together a four-play, 68-yard drive capped by a nine-yard touchdown run by Joseph Smith to take a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter in Stillwater.

Brandon Weeden has completed two of his three passes for 59 yards for Oklahoma State so far; that is a rather robust yards-per-attempt number. Weeden’s counterpart, Landry Jones, has had less success, completing just six of 14 throws for 52 yards and an interception.
The Cowboys are playing for more than just the Big 12 Championship that the winner of this game will come away with; they have an outside chance at sneaking into the BCS National Championship Game if their win over the Sooners is convincing enough for voters to elevate them past Alabama before the final BCS rankings for 2011 are released.
