Randy Shannon Interviews To Be Arkansas’ Defensive Coordinator, According To Report

Shannon would come to the Razorbacks with a pretty significant resume. The 45-year-old former Dallas Cowboys linebacker spent 17 seasons in various coaching positions at Miami. He was the head coach there for four seasons from 2007-2010, going 28-22. He was fired after 7-5 in his final season. Shannon also coached in the NFL from 1998-2000 with the Miami Dolphins.

While he may have fallen short as a head coach, Shannon really shone as a defensive coordinator. From 2001-06, his teams ranked among the top seven defenses in the nation. His worst year as defensive coordinator was in 2004 when the Hurricanes were 28th. The year before than, the Hurricanes finished with the second-best defense.

The Razorbacks went 10-2 this season, but their defense was generally disappointing. The Razorbacks were 51st in total defense in the country and ninth in SEC.
