If you know anything about the Rose Bowl, it's that a Big Ten team traditionally plays a Pac-12 team. Such is the case in 2012 when the Oregon Ducks will take on the Wisconsin Badgers.
Rose Bowl 2012: Big Ten Determined To Keep Rose Bowl Ties
Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany is committed to keeping things that way.
While discussing the “plus-one model and playoff options that seem to be inevitable in college football, Delany was adament in making sure his conference remained tied to the Grandaddy Of Them All.
“Some of the people that don’t have (BCS AQ status), say they don’t want it,” Delany said. “Some of the people that do have it, don’t really care about it. Maybe it needs to be reconsidered. I’m not wed to it. I’m wed to the 1-2 game and I’m wed to the Rose Bowl. I’m not wed to the (BCS AQ) selection process or the limitations.”
“As long as I can go to the Rose Bowl, I don’t really care,” he said.
Expect that to be a major sticking point for BCS opponents for years to come.
