Mike Shula Reportedly A Candidate To Replace Charlie Weis At Florida

Mike Shula is being targeted to replace Charlie Weis as Florida’s OC, according to reports.

Florida Gators head coach is targeting former Alabama Crimson Tide coach Mike Shula as his next offensive coordinator, according to reports.

Following the news that Charlie Weis will be introduced as the new Kansas Jayhawks head coach on Friday, Muschamp is acting quickly to find his replacement.

Shula is currently in his first season as the quarterback coach for the Carolina Panthers. Prior to that, he served as QB coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2007-2010, joining that team following four years spent as head coach for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Shula has extensive Florida ties, playing on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before signing on with the Bucs as an offensive assistant. Following that stint, he moved on to the Miami Dolphins, where he served as a coaches’ assistant from 1991-1992. He returned to the Buccaneers to serve as offensive coordinator from 1996-1999 before becoming the QB coach for the Dolphins from 2000-2002.
