Devon Butler Released From Hospital Two Weeks After Shooting

More good news for the Northern Illinois Huskies community in the Devon Butler case: NIU's starting middle linebacker has been released from the Rockford, Ill. hospital where he'd been recovering from gunshot wounds sustained in an off-campus shooting two weeks ago. Butler is being put up at his position coach's house during his recovery; according to head coach Dave Doeren, no timetable has been set for his return:

“Our plans are to not have him (next season) because that’s the worst-case scenario,” Doeren said. “Nobody’s focusing on football with him right now. Two weeks ago we didn’t know if he was going to live. The big thing for him right now is not rushing him.”

No news on the two students arrested in the April 5 shooting, apart from bond being set at $1 million for each suspect.
