Austin Johnson Arrested For Fighting People And Cars, According To Report

Some details of Tennessee Volunteers linebacker Austin Johnson's arrest early on Sunday have come to light - Johnson, who was charged for public intoxication and disorderly conduct, apparently was trying to pick a fight and was also "hitting parked cars." Johnson told Knoxville police that he was drunk.

There’s something sad about the futility there - Johnson couldn’t find a person to fight, so he started hitting huge pieces of metal instead. He’s lucky he wasn’t the one who ended up hurt.

Johnson had 44 tackles in 2010 and is expected to be a big part of the Volunteers’ 2011 defense. They don’t have a ton of depth at linebacker and don’t have the typical cupcake early-season schedule after an opener against Montana, so a suspension could be a problem for the Tennessee defense.

The University has not responded to the allegations against Johnson, except to say that it is investigating them. Johnson’s day in court will come August 4.
