Former Iowa Hawkeyes running back Adam Robinson has officially decided to transfer to the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Robinson's mother confirmed the news to the Des Moines Register on Monday.
Adam Robinson, Iowa’s Leading 2010 Rusher, Transfers To Minnesota-Duluth
Former Iowa Hawkeyes running back Adam Robinson is set to transfer to the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
Robinson led the Hawkeyes football team in rushing for two consecutive seasons but found himself continually mired in off-the-field controversy. After being suspended for the team’s season-capping appearance at the Insight Bowl due to undisclosed violations, Robinson was arrested again in late December for possession of marijuana. The latter offense prompted head coach Kirk Ferentz to kick the 21-year-old off the team.
Robinson joins a Minnesota-Duluth football program that has won two of the last three Division II national championships, though he will be forced to wait a year before he can make his debut. According to head coach Bob Nielson, the NCAA denied Robinson’s DII transfer exception, meaning the junior running back will be required to sit out this season before he can return with two seasons of eligibility.
The former-Hawkeye rushed for 941 yards and 10 touchdowns in just 10 games at Iowa last year, while emerging as a dual threat with 24 receptions, for 290 yards, and one touchdown.
