Miami Offensive Tackle Seantrel Henderson To Undergo Back Surgery, Could Miss Entire Season

Miami Hurricanes offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson will have back surgery and could potentially miss the entire 2011-2012 college football season.

The Miami Hurricanes football team received a gust of bad news Tuesday afternoon after reports confirmed that offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson will undergo back surgery August 8th. As of this point it's unclear if the 19-year-old will return, though all signs point to him missing the entirety of the 2011-2012 college season.

Henderson entered Miami with a glut of expectations after being considered the top overall player in his recruiting class by many pundits. Recruiting guru Tom Lemming publicly gushed over the 6-8, 345-pound behemoth, and Sports Illustrated featured Henderson in its July 2008 profile of the country’s next superstar athletes.

Unfortunately, his career did not start off as bright as planned. Henderson begun his freshman year as a back-up, before eventually starting the final nine games of the season to moderate success.

With a year of experience under his belt, many believed the oncoming year would be Henderson's breakout season. However, the young tackle surprisingly finished the Hurricanes spring camp stuck as the backup left tackle to Malcolm Bunche.

With Henderson's injury, new head coach Al Golden will move Brandon Washington over to left tackle. Brandon Linder is the favorite to replace the spot vacated by Washington.
