SEC Expansion Includes Alec Baldwin, Sudden Alabama Fan
Namath hits me over the middle, Super Bowl Three-style! On Letterman tonight! ROLL TIDE!!
Now you’re awake! You’re startled by what you’re looking at, but you’re wide awake. Let’s talk about this.
Alec Baldwin and Bama great Joe Namath were on David Letterman’s show Tuesday night. One thing led to another, and now Baldwin is attempting various iterations of our craziest fan base’s war cry. This is sort of like Crip-walking in public after seeing it conducted as a museum exhibit on the VMAs.
Does he know what he’s getting into here? Baldwin’s previous southern connections of which I’m aware:
- Kim Basinger is from Georgia.
- 30 Rock had an episode set in Georgia that made touristy Stone Mountain look as if it provided the setting for the sequel to Deliverance. (This is what happens when you leave gigantic Confederate general murals up like it's no big deal.)
- He played Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, who's from Maryland. Some people think Maryland is in the South. I'm not saying it is.
- He starred in Ghosts of Mississippi. There was some other movie in which he has a southern accent, too.
Plenty of preparation! The toughest choice now facing Baldwin is which message board to join (answer: all of the message boards) and how many retroactive and future national championships to claim (answer: similar to previous answer). His political affiliations aside, a nation that learned to love Nick Saban’s ruthless leadership assuredly has room in its hearts for Jack Donaghy.
ALWAYS. BE. PROCESSING.
