Virginia Tech Vs. ECU Game Time, TV Schedule, Spread And More

Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer has another milestone ahead of him that he can gain this weekend: his 200th career victory with the Hokies. Will East Carolina prevent that on Saturday?

Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer can add his name to the university's record book this week if he picks up his 200th career victory as the Hokies' head coach. But the East Carolina Pirates stand in his way on Friday.

The Hokies had a tune-up to start the season by defeating Appalachian State, 66-13. Running back David Wilson made that all too easy with 16 carries for 162 yards and three touchdowns. Starting quarterback Logan Thomas’ stat line shows that he was 9-of-19 for 149 yards and two touchdowns, but there isn’t much sweat over his play as the Hokies starting quarterback yet.

However, Thomas will be making the first road start of his career, which is a cause of concern for some Hokies fans. David Wilson will likely be looked on to carry the offensive load again. The last time the Hokies lost to the Pirates was in 2008, when the game was played at a neutral location in Charlotte, N.C. They won their 2009 road game in Greenville, 16-3.

The Pirates play a fast-paced offense, so the Hokies will need to manage the clock effectively on offense to keep it off the field. The Hokies might be frustrated at times, but they should come away with the victory.

Game date, time: 3:30 p.m. ET, Saturday, Sept. 10

Location: Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium -- Greenville, N.C.
