When the Alabama Crimson Tide travel north to play the Penn State Nittany Lions, the story will be quarterbacks. Both Nick Saban and Joe Paterno are currently playing a pair of quarterbacks, with both refusing to commit to a starter. Rob Bolden and Matt McGloin will split time again for PSU, while AJ McCarron and Philip Sims will do the same for Alabama.
Alabama Vs. Penn State Game Time, TV Schedule, Spread And More
Alabama’s national title credentials will be tested this weekend with a tough road game against Penn State. Both teams are yet to name a starting QB, so expect to see four quarterbacks take the field Saturday.
In the case of Penn State, one can forgive Joe and Jay Paterno for not yet coming to a decision on a starter. Neither Bolden or McGloin has looked bad, but neither has separated themselves either. In Alabama’s case, it’s not unfair to wonder what Saban is thinking. McCarron was the clearly better quarterback against Kent State in Week 1, and he looks like the clear choice at the moment.
Outside of the quarterbacks, a lot of eyes will likely be on Alabama running back Trent Richardson. He scored three touchdowns in Week 1, but only averaged 2.8 yards per carry. He was tipped as a Heisman candidate this season after the departure of Mark Ingram, but certainly didn't look like one last week. He's on major television against a major opponent this week, so he has a big chance to bring his Heisman stock back up.
