Mississippi St. Bulldogs bulldog Vick Ballard came very, very close to scoring an arpeggio of a touchdown that would've put MSU an extra point away from tying the Auburn Tigers late in the fourth, but it really doesn't matter either way. Auburn won the game, a close game, because that's what Auburn does. They win close games, everybody hates it, and it will continue.

Had the play been ruled a touchdown, Mississippi State’s extra point would’ve bounced off the upright. Kicker distracted by awkward reflection of luxury suite glass dented by Auburn mascot Spirit. Sorry.
Had the extra point gone in, a defensive lineman on Auburn’s kick return team, perhaps the same one who fielded last week’s onside kick, would’ve returned the incoming squib for a touchdown. In overtime ... Auburn would’ve somehow won by two touchdowns.
Gene Chizik is 9-0 at Auburn in games decided by four points or fewer.
