Michigan Vs. Eastern Michigan Final Score: Denard Robinson Overpowers Eagles

Michigan kept things simple against their Washtenaw County neighbors, running the ball all day. Unfortunately for Eastern Michigan, knowing the plan and stopping it were two different matters. Michigan cruised to a 31-3 win.

Denard Robinson carried the ball 26 times for 198 yards and a touchdown, just two yards shy of his 11th career 200-yard game. Vincent Smith added 118 yards on nine carries, with Fitzgerald Toussaint mustering a respectable (but relatively pedestrian) 46 yards on 11 carries.

All told, Michigan ran the ball 50 times compared to just 18 pass attempts, but like last week against Notre Dame, Robinson made the most of his few completions, tallying two touchdowns among his seven completions for 98 yards.

If you thought Michigan's play-calling was imbalanced, consider that Eastern attempted just six passes the entire game. The Eagles entered the contest averaging well over 300 rushing yards a game in their first two games, and they were determined to stick with their strengths -- final score be damned. They managed 207 yards (4.5 yards per carry), but aside from giving Michigan a first-quarter scare, they were never in the game. Javonti Greene finished with 21 carries for 80 yards, while quarterback Alex Gillett finished with 11 carries for 61 yards.
