That sprint was crucial on the scoreboard and for momentum, as the Eers had just gotten their crowd back to full throttle by pulling within six points. While West Virginia had to construct drives from deep in their own territory just to get anywhere near the goal line, over and over LSU set its offense up for success.

Think of their non-offensive ball movement the way we used to think of their flair for late-game miracles: it’s not exactly a fluke if it happens every week.

The Toledo Rockets hit a last-second field goal at the Carrier Dome on Saturday afternoon, knotting the game at 30 and forcing overtime with the Syracuse Orange. It should’ve been the game-winner. Just minutes earlier, following a Syracuse touchdown, the Orange were credited with a successful extra point try that actually wasn’t. Even after officials reviewed the play, the wrong call was upheld.

Sideline bowling: America’s new favorite sport.

It was, simply, a bone-headed play. Blackmon had an easy touchdown before he started screwing around with the ball as he walked into the end zone. Instead of the 11-point lead, Blackmon is now in the running for derp of the week, right up there with Tajh Boyd.

Brandon Weeden found Tracy Moore for an acrobatic touchdown in the back of the end zone, giving Matt Millen a chance to drop knowledge on us all. In reference to the touchdown catch, which involved Moore twisting in mid-air and dropping a foot down, Millen had the following to say.

“He’s got great body part awareness.”

Even if you don’t like watching epic, winding punt returns from huge SEC games, watch this for the pleasure of hearing Verne Lundquist say, “watch this for the pleasure of a terrific punt return.” Video via @cjzero:

The kickoff of Miami’s 3:30 game against Kansas State at Sun Life Stadium was slightly delayed by storms. (Kansas State is no stranger to weather delays in games involving Florida teams.) But those storms brought an group of unusual visitors to the game — dragonflies. And they came by the thousands.

That pic, via @ericespada, shows only a small portion of Sun Life, but adequately conveys the horror that must stir in the heart of humans confronted with a cloud of dragonflies.
