The Marcellus (NY) High School J.V. football team was on their way home from a loss last weekend when head coach Jim Marsh apparently had an idea. He stopped the bus at a cemetery, told his players to get off and made them lay down on top of graves in order to drive home a message about not giving up...or something like that.
JV Football Coach Makes Grave Mistake...And Other Puns
Believe it or not, parents had an issue with this and Marsh was suspended for two games without pay. He will return to coach the team’s final two games of the season and he will donate his pay to the cemetery.
You know, buried deep down, Marsh had a good idea here.
It was well-plotted but poorly executed.
You have to believe the program will be haunted by this for years.
Marsh may never be able to exorcise this from his resume.
The media really buried him for this.
This was no way to revive their decaying morale.
I appreciate the spirited motivation technique, but others find the idea ghastly.
The one mistake he made? He didn’t keep his players deadly silent.
I get the sense Marcelles is going to be lifeless out there this weekend.
They’re really gonna have to dig deep if they want to get past this.
Aaaaand we’re done.
