Week 1 of the college football season featured the usual smattering of small-school tuneups peppered with a few marquee showdowns. Teams took care of business for the most part, the major outlier being the Pac-12 which struggled mightily over the weekend. The Oregon Ducks fell 10 spots to No. 13 in the latest AP poll following their loss to LSU in Dallas. USC dropped out of the rankings after squeaking by what should have been a mediocre Minnesota Gopher squad, 19-17. The Stanford Cardinal have become the new standard bearer for the conference, moving up one spot to No. 6 following Oregon's drop out of the Top 10.
College Football Rankings, Week 1: The Pac-12 Struggled During Opening Weekend
Oklahoma remains on the top of the AP Poll, while all of Auburn, USC, Notre Dame and Georgia have dropped out of the rankings.

Here are how the other conferences fared in this week’s poll:
SEC: LSU Tigers (No. 2), Alabama Crimson Tide (No.3), South Carolina Gamecocks (No. 12), Arkansas Razorbacks (No. 14), Mississippi State Bulldogs (No. 16), Florida Gators (No. 18), Georgia Bulldogs (dropped out), Auburn Tigers (dropped out).
Georgia fell out of the polls after their loss to Boise State. Auburn fell out after barely edging out Utah State late in the fourth quarter. LSU and Mississippi State both enjoyed healthy bumps up the rankings, however.
Big Ten: Wisconsin Badgers (No. 8), Nebraska Cornhuskers (No. 10), Ohio State Buckeyes (No. 15), Michigan State Spartans (No. 17), Penn State Nittany Lions (No. 23).
The top of the conference handled its business, with Minnesota and Indiana being the only conference losses on the weekend. Wisconsin jumped ahead of Nebraska following their 51-17 win over UNLV.
Big 12: Oklahoma Sooners (No. 1), Texas A&M Aggies (No. 7), Oklahoma State Cowboys (No. 9), Baylor Bears (No. 20), Missouri Tigers (No. 21), Texas Longhorns (No. 24).
Baylor joined the rankings after not receiving a single vote in the preseason AP poll.
ACC: Florida State Seminoles (No. 5), Virginia Tech Hokies (No. 11)
Both conference reps jumped ahead of Oregon in the rankings. The Hokies edged out South Carolina as well despite the Gamecocks winning on Saturday.
Big East: West Virginia Mountaineers (No. 19), South Florida Bulls (No. 22)
South Florida joined the ranking after taking down the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday.
Mountain West: Boise State Broncos (No. 4), TCU Horned Frogs (No. 25)
The Broncos had one of the marquee wins of the weekend against Georgia. TCU barely held on to a ranking after falling to Baylor, however.
