The Florida Gators and Ohio State Buckeyes are both likely to struggle on offense in the 2012 TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl. After trading faltering offensive possessions early, though, the Gators struck first on a touchdown pass from John Brantley to Deonte Thompson.
2012 Gator Bowl Score Update: Florida Strikes First After John Brantley Injury
Brantley's 16-yard pass to Thompson capped Florida's second drive of the day, a 14-play, 80-yard jaunt that featured Brantley and Xavier Nixon getting hurt on one play. Brantley has thrown for 82 yards so far, but lost a fumble to end Florida's first drive.
Ohio State didn’t have much more luck on its first offensive drive. The Buckeyes moved into Florida territory after Brantley’s fumble, but sacks on consecutive plays and a third down stop left Ohio State with no choice but to punt.
