When you hear that a school is introducing new Nike Pro Combat football uniforms, you brace for impact. And odds colors. And strange designs.
Minnesota Unveils New Uniforms
Minnesota will wear new uniforms in the 2012 football season.
So it's refreshing to see that the Minnesota Golden Gophers new Nike uniforms for this upcoming season will be rather straight-forward.
The Gophers introduced their new Nike uniforms Friday afternoon. The new unis allow the Gophers to mix and match gold, white and maroon jerseys with gold, white and maroon pants.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Nike uniform without some tweaks and touches.
Brick patterns and texture are also prominent in some of the design elements. Jersey numbering and lettering on the white and gold jerseys will be printed with a brick pattern, which was taken directly from one of the walls of Memorial Stadium, which is on display at the McNamara Alumni Center.
Written on the back of the football helmets is the phrase SKI-U-MAH, a cheer for the Gophers.
All in all, I rather subdued set of uniforms, which works for Minnesota.
