Trey Metoyer Officially Added To Oklahoma’s 2012 Recruiting Class

Oklahoma pretty much gained a five-star receiver on Friday, as 2011 commit Trey Meteyor is finally able to enroll.

Trey Metoyer, the No. 2 receiver in the nation from the 2011 recruiting crop, will formally join the Oklahoma Sooners' 2012 class after receiving an academic go-ahead from the NCAA. Metoyer wasn't able to make it in last year, so he spent the season getting his numbers right at Hargrave Military Academy.

He’s one of six players enrolling early at OU, counting Juco transfers. As he’s still a five-star recruit, he boosts OU’s haul into Rivals’ top 10 classes. He’s the Sooners’ highest-rated 2012 recruit, with three four-star receivers following close behind -- and they’re still in the running for Dorial Green-Beckham, another five-star receiver. So, yeah, this is pretty big news. You’ll excuse Oklahoma fans for getting excited:

Every one is drooling over the prospect of what Dorial Green-Beckham could do for one lucky program, well Metoyer is pretty darn close to that same level of potential impact. Maybe someone can come up with a better comparison, but for me Metoyer reminds me a lot of Malcolm Kelly. Ridiculous hands, he’ll catch everything that is even remotely close to him, and while not a burner has the ability to get behind the defense if they don’t respect his speed or cheat up against the run.

The Sooners should be well-stocked at receiver for the immediate future, to say the least. Even without all-time NCAA catches leader Ryan Broyles, OU returns Kenny Stills and Jaz Reynolds, who combined for 1,564 yards last year.
