VIDEO: Michigan Fake Field Goal Pass Lands In Long Snapper’s Hands

The 2012 Sugar Bowl has gone completely sideways, with the Michigan Wolverines suddenly leading, 10-6, after trailing for almost the entire half. After a 45-yard Denard Robinson touchdown chuck to Junior Hemingway, the Virginia Tech Hokies fumbled away the ensuing kickoff, ... AND THEN!

SI.com: Live Sugar Bowl box score and Sugar Bowl FAQ.

Nobody's yet figured out exactly whether that was a called fake field goal or what, but what you saw there was a bobbled snap, a heave by doomed holder Drew Dileo, a tipped pass, and long snapper Jareth Glanda making the catch for the first down. Les Miles was a Michigan man, you'll recall. These things don't just sprout up out of nowhere.

All that led to ... a successful field goal.
