Florida Gators coach Will Muschamp announced Thursday he has suspended tight end A.C. Leonard from the team following Leonard's arrest on a domestic battery charge.

"This behavior will not will be tolerated and A.C. has been suspended from team activities at this time," Gators coach Will Muschamp said in a statement released Thursday. "I certainly don't condone this type of behavior -- it is not what we expect from the University of Florida football program."

According to police, the 20-year-old Leonard got into an argument with his girlfriend Wednesday night. The dispute escalated to the point where he shoved her, causing her to fall and hit her head on a dog cage. Leonard then told her to leave the apartment they shared. When she refused to leave, Leonard grabbed the woman by both feet and pulled her out of the apartment.

Leonard was released on his own recognizance Thursday.
