College football realignment wreaked havoc on the SEC schedule in general, but the South Carolina Gamecocks are effected a bit more than most as they've apparently lost their cross-division football rival in the Arkansas Razorbacks. No worries, though, as it seems the Gamecocks will likely add the Texas A&M Aggies as their new opponent from the west.
SEC Schedule: Texas A&M, South Carolina May Be Permanent Cross-Division Rivals
Nothing is official yet, but South Carolina school president Harry Pastides told ABC affiliate WOLO on Saturday that it seems like they’ll be seeing the Aggies quite a bit in the future.
“Arkansas is a long way off. Arkansas and Missouri have kind of buddied up because they are neighboring states and wanted to play each other,” Pastides said. “That left the opportunity for us to think about Texas A&M, I’d love to know what the fans think.”
It makes sense that Arkansas would want to play Mizzou, but knowing the SEC, there’s no doubt Pastides will get his wish with the fans weighing in on the subject.
